  1. 72 million citizens agree with you. There are a whole lot more who shamefully stayed at home rather than travel the few miles to vote. They didn't even bother to mail in a ballot. That method was also readily available.

  3. Trump has just forfeited US global leadership. You can't just switch back after the next four years. The best we can hope for is mitigation. The big surprise that caught climate scientists off guard, is that the CO2 level, along with global warming, was rising at a small exponential rate that was too small to differentiate from a linear increase. The acceleration didn't become discernable from a linear increase until enough data became available. Now we know that it is accelerating, and that is why we all think the science has been erratic. Scientists were merely following the science. They were right to do so.

  4. Well, I guess if we're giving up hegemony, the U.S. military bases are redundant, but isn't that playing into Russia's hand? There still is an existential threat from a few nations, and the worst of those is in Russia. I keep hearing about poor Russia, and how we are encroaching upon their sovereignty, but there was no need for that if they were open to free trade and honest demilitarization. Instead, the militant threat became a partnership with Russia. There seems to a real tendency to fill the void that peace creates. Someone always starts some king of aggression. We are not the peace loving race that Jeffrey Sachs hopes for.
