People with first hand experience with the Kremlin say that Putin can hold out and continue this war for several years. Waiting for the Kremlin to break ranks is not a reliable strategy. They need to control Donetsk. That is the hub, and it's a good place to peel the onion from, because it's where the stem is. Of course, it would have been a hell of a lot better if they had gone for the capital on the first place. Putin has already disqualified any serious contenders.

  4. I don't think Ukraine is in any practical rush to take back Crimea. Right now, they're mostly concerned about defending their regained territories, and defending Kyiv from another pending attack. Kharkiv is still in the middle of it, and still vulnerable.

  16. It would be a real shame if Washington were to give explicit coordinates and ballistics information to Ukraine, and ask them not to strike those targets. It's the Army way.
