This could easily be the U.S. too soon. There are many parallels, but America's biggest problem is a lack of ethics in our population. Our various leaders are corrupt, and the working class is tired of shouldering the burden. How did they do it? They cheated. How are they trying too fix it? They're cheating. The cat is out of the bag now. We know what their long term plan is, and the West will not accept it. The notion that China will be allowed to continue strengthening it's stranglehold on the free World is coming from an academic bubble. There is little mention of their military expansion, and this aspect is what is most objectionable to the current hegemony of the so-called "Western" Nations. These also include many great nations in Asia as well as the Pacific and Europe.

@chench1lla What rules? The strongest write the rules. That is why China will not be allowed to succeed in it's planned hegemony.
