I don't think he is expecting to have a successor, so he is trying to set them up as the nations future leaders.   41. I think having interest rates too low, like near zero, can have deflationary effect. By keeping loan costs low, you are actually driving prices down. The Fed should drop all the fancy math and look at the resultant rather than esoteric modeling. 2% Interest may well stabilize inflation at a similar level. That's what the results may show if they give the economy the time to settle it in.
