If nothing else, we need to call their bluff, if they're going to do it to us anyway, there's nothing to lose by expressing our disapproval en masse. The posts that get consigned to the "newest first" backwater can be noteworthy for the considerations that they'd prefer the general public not to be bearing in mind. Most of mine seem to end up there, not sure what that says about me ( ! - ), but it does tend to drive me bonkers ... 👍
