  2. I also went on active duty in January 1982. I did public address set ups as ground radio maintenance to include a 90 during the air war when I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall, so I was lucky enough to see all of the aircraft up close. I got to fly the T-37 simulator at Reese Air Force Base, what night when I was delivering parts after hours. I was supposed to get a incentive ride in an F-16 because I fixed there LST-5 SATCOM, and the F-16’s were there to guard them when we were in Oman in around 97. So now I fly virtually in DCS World, to include the F 86, which is really fun because it isn’t super fast but very maneuverable. I think I’ve spent enough money that I could buy my own jet at this point. Lol

  5. I’m retired military so I ate MREs on occasion during deployment or exercises. If you don’t think caffeine and sugar are drugs, I’ll tell you that I’ve been able to quit everything to include cigarettes and heroin, but not once have I ever quit sugar. Sugar actually is so good that it can believe some pain even though it’s very short duration. That’s the true crack of society. Lol

  6. I was on a deployment with 49 civil engineers building a school down in Ecuador and we were fed fish, rice, and plantain twice times a day. After several weeks, people were so tired of the local diet that they started stealing the MREs that they would normally complain about.

  9. Then there’s the bottom hat. It was invented when someone was out in the middle of nowhere and need to use the restroom. They threw some leaves and grass in their top hat and used it. We now call it the compost toilet.
