While I am betting it was not your intention you have made a very detailed strong case for the moon landing being necessary from the US standpoint even if the technology was not fully there. 50 years later this is the only technology developed by one superpower and not the other, by one developed nation and not others. It is also the one technology that a nation supposedly perfected but cannot replicate 50 years later when manufacturing is light years ahead and computing is phenomenally more powerful.
