+ SuperFeist This Bf-109 moved around as a war bonds display and ended up in storage in Canada for many years with parts disappearing. They are slowly getting it back together, but others have said there are mistakes in the new paint.

+ Claude Smoot Not in the UK. It was banned in Germany since the end of WW2, although the laws have been updated to allow educational museum exhibits.

+ arnoldhyper99 This Bf-109 toured as a war bonds exhibit and eventually spent a long time in storage in Canada. Over time some cowling pieces and the engine went missing. So you can see that the museum is gradually constructing the missing parts.

+ blitzy No, the Luftwaffe started using bright unit identification colors to reduce friendly-fire losses.

+ Leeseter He spent the war as POW in Canada. The records say repatriated in February 1946.

+ keithpennock The Kommandogerät unit was on the BMW 801 radial. Jumo had a similar system called the Motorbediengerät. The DB engines may have a system, although I do not know what it is called.

@corey1054 The naming convention change for Messerschmitt must have really confused the Luftwaffe. Many original WW2 documents use "Me" and "Bf" interchangeably. I'm trying to imagine how many times in the admin offices that question might have been asked - Hey is that "Bf" or "Me"? "I dunno..."

+ ZYBER WORLD The plane was engaged by Hurricanes before the pilot made a wheels-up landing. So it is thought to be engine damage, although I have read a few opinions that it was fuel. The plane toured as a war bonds display and spent years in storage in Canada. The original engine disappeared while it was stored in Canada.

+ Garrett Gustafson Which Bf-109? At the end of WW2, the Allies banned the swastika by law in many European countries, and this law is still in place. So the restoration agreement with Germany should already know that it cannot be displayed, so somebody was not communicating. Also, Germany has made some adjustments to the law and the swastika can be displayed in some educational exhibits. There are a few restored aircraft in German museums which actually do display the swastika for accuracy now.
