The new speculation is possibly some major electrical failure since comms, transponder, and flight recorders stopped at roughly the same time.

  2. +Kim Young Jin That plane was under the same FAA regulations as any other aircraft. It has logs books and paperwork that is supposed to be complete, including all maintenance records.

  3. +Small Fry They follow the same FAA requirements as most other aircraft. The FAA mandated major repairs on flying B-17s in 2001, so there are rules to follow, logs and records to keep. There are experts around the world that still work on engines and other components. Structural components are made to the original factory specifications or with updates that were mandated over the years.
