  2. 1) The permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (also known as the Permanent Five, Big Five , or P5) are the five sovereign states to whom the UN Charter of 1945 grants a permanent seat on the UN Security Council: China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom, and the United States. 2) The permanent members were all allies in World War II (and the victors of that war), and are also all states with nuclear weapons (though only the United States had developed nuclear weapons prior to the formation of the United Nations). 3) The UN permanent membership requirements: According to Oppenheim's International Law : United Nations, "Permanent membership in the Security Council was granted to five states based on their importance in the aftermath of World War II." To qualify for UN permanent membership, you need to be "important" ? To qualify for UN permanent membership, you need to be "BIG" ? To qualify for UN permanent membership, you need to be the "victors" ? How dare they say India is not important ! How dare they say India is not BIG ! How dare they say India is not victors ! If they say India is not the "victors", then surely they are saying they are the "L????" ?
