@ The Roman Empire thrived on migration. Their so-called “genius” was built by absorbing people, skills, and ideas from all over Europe, Africa, and Asia. Most Roman emperors weren’t even “ethnically Roman,” and their army, cities, and culture were totally multicultural. Same with the UK—its success today is thanks in part to waves of migration: from the Huguenots to Windrush to EU workers. The NHS, tech, arts, science—all boosted by people who came from elsewhere. If anything, history shows that isolation shrinks empires. Openness builds them.
