  1. The Constitution granted many new powers to the Federal government. Samuel Adams refused to attend the Constitutional Convention, claiming that he "smelled a rat." And now we have a federal government that has seized too much money and power, and no longer confines itself to the limitations of the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
