  1. There is no such thing as "intrinsic" value. All value is totally subjective. Market prices represent a sort of average of all the individual transactions, which were all based on subjective value of the purchaser. Even gold's value is subjective. Money represents human value, not labor. Commodity money is better than fiat money, but both are subjective. There is no objective source of value. That is a Marxist idea.
