  1. When goods cross borders, troops tend not to. Makes no sense to attack a valuable customer, or a needed supplier. Just before WW2, the US Smoot Hawley tariff shut down trade with Germany. Bad thing. I want strong trade inter-dependance with China. Trade tends to help people on both sides of borders, as it undermines totalitarianism. Yeah, let's not share military technology with them. But free trade should be for everything else.
