I'm really happy when there are people who are happily transitioned. What I worry about is that because of the way we are trying to help young trans people, we are creating way too many people who will grow up to regret their transitions. If that day comes, those of us advocating chemical or surgical transitioning efforts on minors will find ourselves feeling really bad about what we advocated.

In 1981, my gay English teacher was fired. He was good. I liked him. I hope he had a good life anyway.

I think it's not fair for someone who has gone through puberty as a male, to compete against cis women when they become an adult. This violates the very principle we fought for when we achieved Title IX, and fought for equal opportunities for women in sports.

@ttmilk6633 Yep, that is really wrong. There are parents who are not supportive of their kids' transitioning, but the teachers/counsellors and the government may not step in between the kids and the parents. That way leads to really ugly dictatorship.

@SarastistheSerpent I understand that many parents do not cooperate with their minor children's desire to transition, either surgically, chemically, or even with dress and name. But don't you think that on average, parents are better caretakers of the children than is the government? Imagine a world where the government had the power to override parents' decisions about religious upbringing, or diet, or where they attended school? Doesn't this seem like a horrible dictatorship? My heart goes out to trans children who's parents are not sympathetic, but my sense is that the bad precedent set by allowing the government the power to dictate how a child is raised is far worse than leaving the parents in charge of their children.

I found this on the internet: "Trans women are not cis women."
