The answer to the question of is it nature or nurture is almost always "both."

@FreakGUY-007 Hah, of course they are. But what the dichotomy is really between is genetics vs. learning. That's what "nature vs. nurture" really means. Cleaver boy. :)

@FreakGUY-007 Genetics and Learning are indeed one. They are part of the Universe, and the Universe is one thing. But genetics and learning are different ASPECTS of reality. If we can't consider different aspects of things, then all science and engineering are impossible.

@FreakGUY-007 "Wake up to find out that you are the eyes of the world." The Grateful Dead. The universe is one thing, but it can be thought of as having two aspects: matter and structure. Substance and information. Having a subatomic particle with mass is one aspect, but knowing the position and velocity of that particle is another. It is like yin and yang. The two aspects are one, and make up a whole, but they are two aspects. The nature/nurture aspects are similar. The DNA is like material, and the nurture is like information. Yet we see that there is some yin in yang, and some yang in yin. The DNA contains information in the sequence of nucleotides. The nurture includes nutrition, which is material. Yes, the path of the universe is determined, but we ARE the process by which our decisions get made. We are therefore still responsible for those decisions as if we really had free will.
