@todaywelearned And who gets the power to determine what "hate speech" is? Sorry, that's a power I don't want to leave to any authority.

Roommates.

That's one of the key traits that MADE the rich get rich. Frugality. And lack of frugality is one of the things that keeps the poor poor.
5
I'm a rich guy. Multi-millions. But less than 100 million. I pick up coins under fast-food windows. I wear old shoes and pants. My car is over ten years old. My watch cost less than $50. Frugality helped make me rich.
5
Absolutely. Well said! Censorship is what Fascists do.

@lebronjohnson6735 I didn't say he would "deserve" a spot on Rogan's show. My position is that if Hitler, or any person whether good like you and me, or evil like Hitler or Stalin or Mao, came back and Joe Rogan wanted to interview them, there should be no government censor to prohibit that interview. Rogan decides who "deserves" to appear on his show. Not you or me, and especially not the government. Censorship is what fascists do. If we are not to be fascists, like Hitler, then we also have to stop advocating fascist policies, like censorship. Even against those we disagree with.

Johnny Harris is doing his part to boost Kamala Harris in the polls. But what I had hoped for was a balanced, objective report on Kamala Harris. Ah, well.

I love what you wrote above, GiRRoo7, I just have one minor quibble: it is not inequality that leads to crime, it is poverty. And poverty is not best reduced through government welfare programs. It is best reduced through private charity and better access to jobs. And both of these come from limited (smaller) government, and free market policies. Individual liberty does not lead to poverty. Instead, individual liberty reduces poverty. But thanks for the great comment! I agree, it should be pinned near the top! :)

@vincentd.2284 Lots of people advocate laws that restrict free speech today. Lots of Democrats do. In Canada and Great Britain, people are prosecuted for what they say or post in social media all the time. And Johnny Harris himself in the video asks whether this kind of speech should be allowed. The presumption is that it is the government that would restrict it, since Johnny can't.

Trump is pretty horrible. But he's better than Kamala Harris. Socialism sucks. And I voted Libertarian. Chase Oliver defends my values. He'll come in third, but I feel good about my vote. And that's all your single vote can do for you. It lacks the power to keep the greater of two evils out of office. And Trump will probably win on 11/5/24.

And the consistent thing is statist, left-wing bias. Always more power to the government.
2
The government deep state was doing bad things (MK Ultra, etc) and Congress was ignoring it. And ya know what? They are still doing it. And here is a more recent example: Fauci funded the Wuhan Lab of Virology to do "gain of function" research on viruses. This means they made the virus more dangerous. It got out of the lab.

@SkylarGraham Timex Ironman. But the Casio is a good one! :)

@bryna7 Yep. I even defend the right to freedom of speech for Musk and Desantis. I also deny their authority to censor speech. Now, the two are different in this way: Desantis is a government authority, but Musk is a private authority. Desantis is limited by the first amendment, and Musk, with regards to X or Twitter, is not. But the very reason I prefer Twitter over something like, Facebook, is my perception that Musk allows more freedom of speech on Twitter, than Zuckerberg allows on Facebook. I quit Facebook, and joined Twitter for this reason.
2
Yep. Statist. Left-wing. Always more power to the government.

This story is not an argument against freedom of speech. The Burmese Army used Facebook to create the most violent sentiment. It is an argument against allowing governments to use social media, and the mainstream media for that matter, to propagandize their own people. Freedom of speech is essential if the people are to remain free, and not under the boot-heel of some dictator.
1
Freedom of Speech was put in to the First Amendment, and not the Second or Third or whatever, for a REASON. There is no right not to be offended. If you disagree with someone, the solution is not to employ the force of government and it's guns against the people you disagree with. The solution is a reasoned response.

The supplement industry should be trusted just about as much as the vaccine industry.
1
And you think more regulation is going to make things better? Where has that ever worked? Instead, you get regulatory capture, where industry sits on the regulatory board and you get a revolving door of chronies going in and out of government regulatory agencies. Industry bribes politicians to get control of the agency. You are living in a delusional world if you put your faith in government power for nearly anything.
1
How is this not just a partial form of slavery? Isn't the draft just as bad if you are peeling potatoes instead of marching on the parade ground?
1
@yeetcannon5907 Yep. The draft is a partial form of slavery. You are being forced to do labor for the government, for the politicians. And an all-volunteer military is far more effective. It is full of people who actually want to be there. Conscripts have higher desertion rates during combat.
1
@timruegg2743 My main problem is that it is mandatory. Forced. If you refuse, men come with guns and haul you off. I want to live in a free country, and I want the people around me to be free as well. I think this will tend to produce more willing volunteers for an all-volunteer military, which tends to be more effective than one composed largely of forced conscripts.
1
@yeahbee8237 I agree that such service teaches valuable lessons. And this is an important part of the persuasion that should be used to get people to do the service voluntarily. But it is immoral to force them to do this service. Persuade them. That is what civilized people do. We don't resort to force right out of the gate. Making it a legal requirement, or forcing people to pay if they refuse, is not moral. It's not right.
1
Dick Cheney endorsed Kamala Harris because Kamala is more of a war hawk than Trump is.
1
There is a real risk that Trump is coming back. Or someone even worse. When that happens, I want this would-be dictator to know that there are millions of regular Americans out here with AR-15's. And that a lot of us have high-capacity magazines. Not that I want any of these weapons to be fired. The mere presence of all these guns takes certain very bad tyrannical options off of the table. The guns "work" even if they are never fired.
1
One of the things I like about Switzerland is it's neutrality in foreign policy. I wish the US had a non-interventionist foreign military policy.
1
The surveillance file system has been turned on regular Americans in the US. The NSA keeps digital files on all of us. Our cell phone tower pings, call records, bank transactions, and our social media posts are all recorded. We all have STAZI files. And the 4th Amendment is ignored. We live in a fascists police state. And no few seem to care.
1
@GiRR007 Where I live, homeless drug-addicts shoplift to feed themselves. It is their poverty that drives their larceny, not envy.
1
"It would be unthinkable to invade the American mainland: there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass."
1
Regarding that chart of income inequality around 28:00, another thing happened at the very bottom, in 1972: the US went off the Gold Standard. Thanks, Nixon. This meant governments could spend at faster rates and create inflation. Rich people insulate themselves from this inflation with investment assets. But the poor and middle class can't protect themselves. Their wages and salaries grow slower than inflation.
1
I disagree with most of what Alex Jones says, but I defend his right to free speech, and I am glad that Joe Rogan had him on. Censorship is what Fascists do.
1
The NRA shifted from being a gun safety organization too being a gun rights defense organization as a reaction to efforts from the left to restrict gun rights. And the 2nd Amendment ALWAYS defended an individual right. This is not some new interpretation. And the Supreme Court reiterated that many times.
1
@vincentd.2284 Actually, there are LOTS of people who want to restrict hate speech by law. Most Democrats in the US do. Canada and the UK do it all the time. Censorship is central to this discussion. I won't disagree with you that a wise moderator will use discretion. But the moderator must live by the consequences of their choices. Our recourse is to boycott, and the moderators know that. I defend Rogan's right to interview Hitler-like people. And I reserve the right to join you in a boycott if he crosses the line.
1
@HappyBirthday0707 I generally agree with you, as long as the recourse for moderators like Rogan interviewing people as bad as Hitler is not government censorship, but instead organized boycotts by listeners. I might join you in a boycott if Rogan crosses the line. But no one should be set up with the power to censor. That is the very fascism we are trying to avoid.
1
Johnny Harris just wants to shut down people he disagrees with. But one of the reasons I like Joe Rogan is that he defends freedom of speech. There is only one way out of the problems of society, and all the hate and conflict: and that is free, open speech and discussion.
1
Great video. Important. The federal government has gotten out of control. It no longer protects the people, but instead is mostly interested in it's own power. The people need to reduce the power and scope of the Federal Government. We are on the road to dictatorship. Maybe not next year, but maybe in 10 or 20 years? We need to stop this process. It leads to disaster.
