This was a real fear. Back in 1800. Would the oxygen be driven from a train carriage? Turns out it is fine. But what the reporter SHOULD have ask about was what happens if there is a breakdown and people make a rapid transition from 600mph to zero? Another good question is whether government should ever subsidize a project like this which will never ever come even close to paying for itself with fares or ad revenue. The project is a boondoggle, and should not be funded by taxpayers. But if they want to do it with private funding, let them have at it.
