  1. When goods cross borders, troops tend not to. Makes little sense to attack a key supplier or a good customer. As trade contracts, the risks of global war increase. Just before WW2, the Smoot-Hawley Tariff dramatically reduced international trade, especially with Germany. It hurt the German economy, and fueled the rise of Hitler. Trade helps people on both sides of borders, and tends to lead to peace. Deglobalization is a threat to peace, freedom and prosperity.
