What was it de Tocqueville said? "Bribe the people with their own money"?

Bestowed wealth vs. earned wealth. It is why "intellectuals" detest new money and seek to deprive all others of theirs.

I was stationed at Scott AFB with the 15th Weather Squadron and 618 Tanker Airlift Control Center in 2006-2009. I agree with you that there is WAY too much bloat at that base. Particularly with redundancies in the flag officers. Norton Swartz could have done the job of BOTH Transcom AND Air Mobility Command and eliminate about 1/4-1/2 of the staff officers.

@davidrios-yx6xu Equivocation like that shows you refuse to accept facts. Time for you to put down the sherry and sober up.
14
Trump's quip reminds me of the one Winston Chruchill said. "Bessie, you are ugly. But tomorrow I will be sober, and you will still be ugly.”
11
@SigFigNewton Hopefully at a steel discount. I have not problems with helping the local businesses liquidate unsellable product on the condition that they do NOT replace it.
8
Kind of reminds me of Winston Chruchill's response to being called drunk. "Bessie, you are ugly. But tomorrow I will be sober, and you will still be ugly.” -Winston Chruchill.
8
What was it that Reagan said, "It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant. It's just that they know so many things that aren't so.” ?
6
Upstate New York needs to be split off from the City and Long Island. Everything north of White Plains should be a separate state with one of the following names: Buffalo, Niagra, American Ontario, Syracuse, or Adirondack.
6
@ATigerShark I guarantee you that not a single Trump voter, even the reluctant ones in 2016 voted for Biden in 2020. I suspect that there are VERY FEW remorseful Biden voters.

Reminds me of Winston Chruchill's quip on being called drunk. “Bessie, you are ugly. But tomorrow I will be sober, and you will still be ugly.” -Winston Chruchill.

"A rising tide raises all boats" -John F. Kennedy. The best way to improve the lives of everyone is to CUT taxes so as to stimulate growth which WILL increase revenues more than raising taxes would.
4
Yeah, as I recall, that tax rate drove most of the UK's capital overseas, particularly to the US.
3
Because he didn't. He is a pigeon playing chess: knocking over all of the pieces and crapping on the table thinking he accomplished something.
3
@Opachki69420 Agreed. It was their screw up and the affiliate should assign him to another product in the interim.
3
Hayek should be required reading for ANY economics degree. As should Karl Menger (Austian economist, not his mathematician son).
3
@blahbruhsikgdesgujgfdvhjvf2804 I agree with you on the microbreweries. There is zero reason to support the transnational brands when there are plenty of local brands one could buy.
2
Exactly. These people are so drunk on their own self-importance and smugness that they can't be bothered to actually "war game out" their own theories.
2
"It is increasingly clear that no matter what party is in power, so long as our national security needs keep rising, an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough jobs or enough profits." -President John F. Kennedy, Address to New York economic Club; December 14, 1962
2
You are not sadistic, you are experiencing Schadenfreude with a touch of catharsis, a natural reaction when watching despicable people get their just rewards.
2
The problem is that like most communists, he doesn't believe in private ownership. He believes wealth belongs to the collective and that money is just something toe government loans to people.
1
Like most PhDs. Mental masturbation with little practical experience.
1
That is exactly the problem. These economics PhDs with ZERO field experience that scientific degrees require you to have.
1
Agreed. They are conditioned, not inspired. They regurgitate, not compute. They are basically well-trained monkeys with a piece of paper but lack any cognitive skills. All the more reason why I keep telling young men to go to VOCATIONAL training. Thye can make a great living becoming a mechanic, electrician, or plumber. And if the Dems bothered to consider it, many of those jobs tend to favor unionization, the historical backbone of the party.
1
Trump pulling a Winston Chruchill. “Bessie, you are ugly. But tomorrow I will be sober, and you will still be ugly.”
1
@seriouslyshortofnormal925 Yeah, the "charitable industry" is basically a cottage business of money laundering and tax evasion.
1
The worst part is, when faced with these realities in practice, they NEVER change their tune. They double down on stupid because they have become as invested in them as a religious zealot.
1
I think JFK had a quote about that, businesses being motivated by tax avoidance rather than investing in productivity.
1
@worsethanjoerogan8061 Well, not quite true. Revenues increase when you DECREASE the tax rates. It is called the Laffer Curve. And John F. Kennedy is the archetype for why it works. The productivity and wealth generation these liberals point to is actually a result of the JFK taxes LBJ got passed using Kennedy's legacy.
1
Flemming vs. Nestor (1960). You have no right to anything you paid into SSI. There is no lockbox, and there never was. It is nothing more than an income tax on the front end, and a welfare system on the back end. The sooner people stop believing in the myth of SSI being a lockbox, the sooner we can actually fix the problem and restore the paid receipts into the system back to those who contributed to it.
1
Yeah, when someone wants to criminalize being wealthy, that is a good sign you are talking to a Bolshevik. And we all know what those guys did when they took control of Russia in the 1920s.
1
"A rising tide lifts ALL boats," -President John F. Kennedy.
1
Not all Democrats, just liberal-progressive ones like him. There are a few John F. Kennedy COSNERVATIVE Democrats like Jim Webb and Alan Dershowitz who are trying to take back the party.
1
Case in point: Bernie stopped demanding millionaires be taxed once he became one.
1
@jeffmancuso2715 And that is the whole point of the tax carveouts in law. To use tax policy to crush their competition.
1
Government is organized crime by other means.
1
Yeah, they don't like to talk about that being exactly what happened in the UK when they went to 90% marginal tax rates.
1
Yeah, Hollywood studios are notorious for fraudulent accounting. Just look at the audit done for Star Trek 2: the Wrath of Khan. They tried to use the full cost for reused stock footage from the previous movie as an expense and got called on the carpet for it.
1
Government is the last refuge of the incompetent.
1
Like playing chess against a pigeon. He knocks over all of the pieces and craps on the board strutting about as if he has accomplished something. Then flies back to his buddies to brag about it.
1
That is basically NRP. Government funded opposition "news" (ie propaganda).
1
Nobody accused liberals of being smart, only emotional.
1
Flemming vs. Nestor (1960), Hevlering vs David (1935). There is not SSI lockbox and there never was. The SCOTUS has made it clear that it is nothing more than an income tax on the front end, and a welfare tax on the back end. Once people stop believing in the myth of the lockbox, then we can finally fix the problem of returning the receipts to those who paid into it.
1
You realize that people who make that much usually collect it in assets rather than hard currency? We are talking about commodities brokers who buy and sell container ships worth of goods. And each of those transactions count as profit. So, it is VERY easy to make $10 million on a balance sheet despite having less than about $10K cash on hand at any given time. Both Elon and Bezos are examples of this.
1
@rodchester3 Not as niche as you may think. That is just ONE example and shows a certain lack of imagination on your part. I use general terms but almost any business of industry can operate in such a fashion. And yes, most people do use LLCs to protect themselves from the very tax liability you propose to create. Indeed, the whole point of "charitable organizations like the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is to launder money and avoid paying taxes. "“The present tax codes… inhibit the mobility and formation of capital, add complexities and inequities which undermine the morale of the taxpayer, and make tax avoidance rather than market factors a prime consideration in too many economic decisions.” -President John F. Kennedy to Congress, January 23, 1963.
1
@rodchester3 I think you are confusing the fact that taxation is glorified theft. It is a shakedown no different than extortion. Government is organized crime by other means.
1
Because they think they will personally benefit from government intervention.
1
Didn't Reagan say that??
1
Look up JFKs quotes about taxes. It will add arrows to your quiver.
1
Yeah, I have ALWAYS hated to saying. it basically means giving up on your future by putting it in the hands of the incompetent. There is a reason why historically the most successful American pilots rarely got more than about 10 kills. Those skills were considered too valuable to lose and the pilots were rotated back to be instructors and trainers. If only the business, industry and financial sectors practiced that same logic.
1
Not just the Soviets. The Red Chinese under Mao did the same thing. As did Ho Chin Mihn in Vietnam, Pol Pot in Cambodia, and the Castros in Cuba.
1
They can't be bothered with the dirty little details or the trouble of "war gaming out" their scenarios. They agree with Stalin that you "have to break a few eggs to make an omelets". Nevermind that those eggs are people's livelihoods.
