That is the best thing, if only more teachers practice what you do. My mother as a math and art teacher was always a political enigma to her students. She was an anti-teacher's union Democrat. She detested how the union laundered her dues to finance people she disagreed with. But she always kept her personal politics out of the classroom as she believed it had no legitimate place there.

@arwenstrong2818 Moderate or wishy-washy? Being "centrist" on principle for the sake of "balance" simply means you can be moved by the whims of the crowd and stand for nothing if the crowd is moving one way or another.

I still tell people I am a registered Democrat and get some really interesting responses. From the party partisans, they call me a fake and a fraud. From the GOP, they call me a unicorn: the last of the JFK Blue Dog Democrats. I REGULARLY trash both parties. I am harsher on my own BECAUSE it is the party I ran as for Congress. They have betrayed the legacy of the men (my maternal grandfather and JFK) who I looked up to as the ideal Democrat.

For the longest time, the left was the creative types. They knew how to adopt new ideas and new messaging. But under Obama they got complacent and forgot how to be creative. They got drunk on their own self-importance.

I hope so. She really burned herself during the 2016 primary debates when she chose to fall on the sword for the establishment. She didn't have to pick an unnecessary fight with Trump. In that regard, Chris Wallace was more professional (at least in 2016).

@arwenstrong2818 "Conservatives didn't care about the environment?" You realize that the father of the US National Park Service was Theodore Roosevelt, a Republican? It isn't that the right doesn't care, it is that the right takes a more hands off approach to environmentalism. A "let nature take its own course" perspective and almost always have. They believed then as now that the liberal approach was a waste of effort and resources chasing a phantom. No, the problem with centrism is that the "center" is a phantom. Heard of the story of the frog that only jumped half the distance towards the edge of the table? He never actually makes it. The "center" is pretty much the same when BOTH political parties are moving to the left.
