  1. Snow and ice being solid means they are technically dry. Hence the difference between "wet cold" (+3 C to -7C) and "dry cold" (-7C to -20C).

  3. Ironically, it was the US who proposed the Antarctic Treaty. The White House at the time realized the extreme difficulty in trying to join any competition for claiming the continent. So instead they opted to take a different approach.

  4. How hard it is to explore the bottom of the Ocean? It is easier to get into orbit than it is to get to the bottom of Challenger Deep (Mariana Trench).
