  5. They don't. They have just come to the realization that the enemy of my enemy can be an effective ally. In short, they view the Persians as a greater existential threat than the Israelis. And as Hamas and Hezbollah gain in influence among the Arabs in Judea (who call themselves Palestinian), that drives the other Arabs into the open arms of the Israelis.

  9.  @DavidHalko  Indeed. Iraq should have been partitioned back in 1914 after the Arab Revolt. The European powers should have listened to TE Lawrence. The West had yet another opportunity when Colonel Lawrence's map showing the proposed borders based on HISTORICAL TRIBAL lines was rediscovered, but arrogance prevented that because we just HAD to not piss off Turkey by allowing an independent Kurdish state. Nevermind that the Turks could have deported all of the Kurds in their territory to that new state, solving their problem.

  12. The closets Arab country to Isarel is Trans-Jordan. And they would be the first to tell you that they chose the Israelis over the Arabs who call themselves Palestinian. Most of them still remember the Dawson Field Hijackings of the 1970s.

  13. Agreed. The ASEAN members need to temporarily set aside their disagreements among themselves and present a united front against China, preferably in the Parcel Islands. Stop the Chinese there with a joint coalition force consisting of Philippines, Vietnamese, Malayans, and Indonesians and it would force the Chinese completely out of the area.

  19.  @dunnowy123  Not denying that the US was a bridge. Simply pointing out the fallacy that peace is not possible between Israel and the Arab states. UAE, Bahrain, Egypt and Trans-Jordan ALL have formalized relations with the Jewish state.

  20.  @puntmannoor3403  Wow you ignore history. But I get that as you don't want peace, so you ignore the data points that refute your claims. Jordan and Lebanon have made peace with Israel because they have learned first-hand that Israel is no greater enemy, no better friend. Having been crushed by the IDF, they opted for trade instead and have flourished. Now contrast that to Iran who nominally does have a say in their government. How great have things really been for that nation? Your problem is that you refuse to accept living alongside the Jews because you refuse to let go of the legacy of Haj Iman Al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, commander of the Bosnian SS, and first chairman of the PLO. As Golda Mier pointed out, peace will only come when Arabs value their children more than they hate Jews.

  22.  @dswynne  Those two points are something of a red herring, often used by the leaders of Arab countries as a strawman argument to distract their own domestic populations. To the first one, the "Palestinians" (really just Arabs in Judea) already have their own territory and government in the Gaza and what have they done with it? The Saudis, Lebanese, and Egyptians are getting tired of both Hamas and Hezbollah, especially as they have effectively become proxy agents of Iran. As for Fatah, they have shown to be just as corrupt and so the other Arabs have chosen to no longer waste money on them. As for the Al-Aqsa Compound, Israel has had ample opportunity to dispose of it yet have chosen not to do so. Time and again they have allowed it to remain unmolested, and it is likely to remain so for the foreseeable future. So, no, those two issues are NOT obstructions but merely distractions and excuses.

  23. Yeah, I think most of them remember how obnoxious the Palestinians were when they lived in Jordan and Lebanon. Hamas and Hezbollah are simply proxies of Iran, and the Arabs don't trust Persian puppets.
