@arthurvandermark5397 They already do that. With term limits the at least have to play musical chairs instead of being 20+ year incumbents.

We need term limits for ALL political offices, Federal, State, Local, and appointed.
5
Here is my proposal. 20-year terms staggered every four years on the mid-term cycle. Limit the court to 5 justices, and you have one SCOTUS judge pick per presidential term. I only see this getting pass via Article V Convention of the States.
4
Yeah, multimillionaires, not small dollar donations. Keep coping buddy.
4
I only see term limits for the SCOTUS coming from Article V convention of the States.
4
I want SCOTUS term limits, but not in the way Joe Bite-Me wants it. I would shrink the court down to just five justices and have them serve staggered 20-year terms with appointments done during the mid-term cycle. 5 justices staggered over 4 years comes out to 20-year cycle.

Says the non-Christian.
2
@Makeitstorm Catholic? I seriously doubt that. Catholics have NOTHING in common with the DNC today. They have EVERYTHING in common with the Trump platform.
2
No, he cannot. You clearly didn't read the ruling that said immunity only applied to OFFICAL duties. Stop parroting DNC talking points on cue like Pavlov's Dog.
2
And we have seen how well that works out. They need to be 20-year terms, staggered every four years. Shrink the court down to just five and you have one nomination per presidential term which isn't much different than it is now.
2
The prosecutor who used black inmates as slave labor in California.
2
I wanted term limits BEFORE the recent rulings. And I DO think most of the ones in the last 2-3 years are good ones. Yet I still stand by my position on SCOTUS term limits. I have principles, you do not.
2
Term limits have been a good thing for the POTUS since FDR. Why would it not be the same for Congress? I agree with you on the 17th amendment.
2
@AmundHof That isn't an argument, it is an emotional outburst by someone who can't debate the merits. Go touch grass. "I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left." -Margaret Thatcher, UK's Iron Lady.
2
@arthurvandermark5397 They already do that. At least make them play musical chairs instead of being in the same office for 20+ years.
2
@michaelmartinez9622 Funny, because that is exactly what the Kamala campaign is doing.
2
@pefo1674 The original John Jay court was five justices. It is the hyper partisans who want to pack the court like FDR did. So, I am going to have to disagree with you about more justices equating to less partisanship.
1
@pefo1674 There is no difference in that. You are trying to make a distinction where none exists.
1
@pefo1674 Splitting hairs like that doesn't make your point, it just proves you are gaslighting.
1
@pefo1674 Changing the meaning of definitions is what the leftists do to create confusion. You are purposely creating confusion to achieve the same result.
1
How about 20-year terms, staggered every 4 years? If you shrink the court to just five justices, then you would have one nomination per president, which isn't that much different than how it is now.
1
How did that work out for them in 2016?
1
Star Chamber Trial. And it will get overturned because of the SCOTUS ruling.
1
Need them for both. I want to see the judges serve 20-year terms instead of lifetime. Shrink the court to just five members and stagger it every four years and a president would get to nominate one justice each term.
1
My proposal is 20-year terms staggered every 4 years. Shrink the court down to just five justices and a president would get to nominate one justice per presidential term which is not too far off from what it is now.
1
RINO, that's why.
1
When 90% of incumbents are re-elected, your argument carries no water. If term limits are good enough for the president, they are just as appropriate for Congress.
1
A woman whose entire career involved being on her knees.
1
The States can also initiate an Article V convention. They don't need Congress's consent.
1
You have been gaslighted. The SCOTUS didn't legalize bribery, they scolded the prosecution for using the wrong statute. Illegal gratuity which was the ACTUAL crime is still unlawful.
1
They already do that. You spamming the same post doesn't convince anyone.
1
I am for 20-year terms staggered every 4 years on the midterm cycle. Shrink the court to just five and a president would get to nominate once justice per term. That is not much different than how it is now, but at least it would be codified.
1
It is, but the left is using him to send up trial ballons.
1
Just like they did in 2016? Hall of the Mountain King, baby.
1
And you are going to ignore how Justice Sotomayor took money from a publishing company who brought a case before the SCOTUS? You are a hypocrite.
1
Kamala is SOUTH ASIAN INDIAN, not black. The black community rejects her as a fake.
1
The teleprompter was in front of him and undamaged. You are delusional.
1
And yet history has proven that is not the case. The Greek city-states only lasted about 200 years before they individually imploded due to corruption. Same case with the Roman Empire. "Republics degrade into direct Democracies, and Democracy invariably degenerates into despotism," -Alexnader Fraiser Tytler.
1
@rageinbull 90% of incumbents are re-elected. There is no voting them out once they get in.
1
Strawman argument. Madison tried and failed to impeach a SCOTUS justice. While the power to do so still exists, nobody has ever attempted it since. So aside from amending the Constitution, there is ZERO check on the SCOTUS. I am for making the justices ser 20-year terms rather than lifetime. Stagger then every four years, shrink the court down to just five and a president would get to nominate one justice every term which is not much different than what it is now.
1
I want ALL of the term limited. For SCOTUS, make them 20 year terms, staggered every four years. Shrink the court down to 5 and each president would get to nominate one during the middle of their term.
1
Boy who cried wolf. You leftists have sounded false alarms so often people don't believe you anymore.
1
That is already what is happening. The Administrative State already owns and controls the politicians. If the "Rookies" don't fire the staffers, that is their problem, not the fault of the voters.
1
That was AVERAGE age. Most of the signers died in their mid 70s to mid 80s. generally speaking, if a person made to age 25, they could reasonably expect to live to their 70s unless war broke out. High child mortality rates are what cases the average to be in the 50s.
