Comments by "David Ford" (@davidford3115) on "Biden aides weigh pardons for those in Trump's 'crosshairs': Report" video.
@goldenbear8250 That is not entirely true. The Pardon was for VERY specific crimes for which Nixon was in legal jeopardy once presidential immunity expired. Ford's pardon only covered those, and nothing else.

@DigitallySaved Something tells me there is more to the case than what you are citing. In the case of Andrew Johnson's pardon, the SPECIFIC crime it covered was sedition and armed rebellion.

@ConnieA1262 Along with all of the J6 political prisoners. This pardon happy behavior is just going to make it easy for Trump to grant clemency across the board.

Yeah, funny how that works. These people don't contemplate the ramifications of what they intend to unleash.

@goldenbear8250 The charges were in the pipeline. We know that because the Congress was already taking up articles of impeachment which would have been the basis for the criminal case. You are trying to be clever by half.
1
@DigitallySaved The charges were pending the expiration of presidential immunity. Ford's pardon only covered those specific crimes and nohthing else.

@willoem2 "our crime is simply not agreeing with Trump... ITS SAD THAT WE CAN'T AGREE TO DISGREE. PEOPLE BEING PROSECUTED FOR DOING THEIR JOBS. " That is called psychological projection and is EXACTLY what the Biden administration has been doing by prosecuting whistleblowers. Engage in a little self-reflection because you are the pot calling the kettle black.

@willoem2 Funny, considering that the Biden administration has done EVERYTHING you accuse Trump of doing. We have seen 4 years of Trump and NOTHING of what you claim EVER came to pass. You are the boy who cried "wolf"!
1
@ahapka Only telling half the story I see. The case actually went to the issue of loyalty oaths and eligibility to run for office, not the actual pardon power itself. Also, you are citing the dissent, not the majority opinion. Major mistake by the intellectually dishonest.

Agreed. The presidential pardon power should be specific and limited, not absolute, just like with presidential immunity.
1
@DigitallySaved Presidential immunity was greatly limited by the recent SCOTUS decision. Don't need a Constitutional Amendment when the SCOTUS can exercise judicial review to limit the power of the Pardon. It is called enforcing the separation of powers clause.
