@zahrans Wrong. That is the myth of the "mutually assured destruction" folks who hate Regan's "Star Wars" missile defense system. JFK offered to remove those missiles (which the Soviets were NOT aware of at the time) to Khrushchev as a face-saving measure so the Soviet Priemer could go back to the Politburo and claim he walked away with a victory.
