  1. The Tongan government had already put out warning due to the eruptions from earlier in the week. That means most of the population was already on high alert to the danger. It is actually a credit to them and their disaster preparedness that there was not a higher fatality rate.

  2. Well, that area of the Pacific is usually patrolled by the Aussies and the Kiwis. The US Navy Pacific fleet rarely goes south of the Marshall Islands.

  3. You realize the Tongan's already knew there was a threat of a tsunami from the eruptions earlier in the week. They were already on high alert which means that when the boom went off, they already knew to run to high ground. it is actually a credit to their disaster preparedness that the body count is so low. They did practically everything right.
