Oh, there WAS testing. the US DoD had quite a bit of it, but the data was ignored by the politicians (ie Obama and company) who wanted to sell off the frequency ranges to the highest bidder.

It was started when Obama sold off to the highest bidder much of the frequencies that the DoD had reserved for operations. Doesn't help that 5G is also the emission frequency of water vapor. That is significant because it will make meteorological satellite analysis difficult with all of the "signal pollution".

The 5G band also is the emission band for water vapor, a major component of meteorological satellite, particularly during nocturnal hours. So, weather analysis is also going to be affected by 5G implementation.

They knew it was coming but really could not do anything about it. Politicians and Bureaucrats made the call, ignoring the warnings of both the FAA and the DoD.

I blame the politicians and bureaucrats. Both have their heads up their rear-ends fighting over turf. This could have been resolved years ago but ego, pride, and arrogance of people preoccupied with protecting their little fiefdoms got in the way.

Then how do you explain the frequency bands overlapping with water vapor emission? Meteorological satellites use those wavelengths to detect and identify atmospheric features. The US Department of Defense has known about this for over a decade, but the data has been ignored by the politicians who approved the implementation of 5G.

@mggentry Believe it or not, aircraft trails do show up on water vapor metstat channels. So do ship trails in the ocean.

Not just the FAA, but also the FCC. Didn't help that American politicians (namely Obama), sold off those frequencies to the highest bidder. The DoD has known about these issues for decades, but the politicians and Bureaucrats simply ignored the warnings.

The US Air Force has known for decades it could be, which is part of the reason why the frequencies were reserved by the DoD. Unfortunately, Obama sold them off to the highest bidder.

US DoD communications also cause issues in Japan and Korea. Which is why not all of the equipment used stateside can be employed in East Asia.

@theobserver9131 MetSat doesn't emit signals, it collects them. It is a passive system. So, the sensors can be washed out with signal interference, kind of like how light pollution in the night sky interferes with stargazing.

Yeah, it is a shame we don't have a better relationship. I get that India wants to be the champion of the third world/independent movement. But that doesn't preclude the US and India having a closer relationship.
