There is a difference. Woke according to Robin DeAngelo (author of White Fragility), is addressing past discrimination with present discrimination in the other direction. Egalitarianism rejects that favoring a meritocratic assessment, judging based on results.

  19. We have not even reached full productivity and hence peak population capacity. If we ramped up to maximum productivity in the US, American's breadbasket in the Midwest alone could easily feed 8 billion. The problem is, what is to be gained from that? What does sub-Sahara Africa have to offer in trade? The problem isn't really resources, it is distribution. Without something to trade, it is not worth while for farmers to produce that much abundance.

  21. @ Bedlam Hospital was a government run mental institution. And it has become a descriptor for hospital abuse. Then you have the fact that forced castrations were common in such places, with the last one occurring in the US in 1975. The movie "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest" actually cuts pretty close to what such places are like with Nurse Ratchets being quite common.
