Because the hate and detest the source material. This is intentional vandalism on their part.

@mnimbus05 And that is why I am for Ip going into public domain no later than 20 years after the death of the original creator. Children often squander their inheritance. And grandchildren are notorious for destroying the legacy of their forebearers (wealth only lasting three generations).

@jagdson2701 Indeed. My ancestor Malcolm McCallum was an Irish Redhead who fought with the Scots at the battle of Dunbar. He was one of the lucky 100 sent to Massachusetts. Those sent to Virginia or Barbados didn't survive their forced servitude.

I agree. It is a complete waste of a good piece of art by trying to hamfist it as a known white character.

All the more reason why copyright protections are way too long. Ironically, Public domain is the ONLY way to protect them as when was the last time you saw Dr. Frankenstein (and his monster) or Dracula as an ethnic minority and not Eastern European?

Making Aragon black is simply modern-day blackface. It is the same racist caricature of the past, but with a new spin.

@thisguy5017 The way they contort themselves to claim forced labor is NOT the definition of slavery is cringe.

@thisguy5017 I'm not sure if your first paragraph was sarcasm or serious. I took your previous post to be sarcasm. I do agree with your second paragraph. While SOME volunteered service for travel to the new world, that was hardly the norm. And what the wokeistas refuse to acknowledge is that most of the deaths during indentured servitude occurred during the very last year of their service. They were often LITTERALLY worked to death. Slaves don't get worked to dead because a dead slave has no value; it is a lost of investment.
