Indeed. The Priemer of a country and the Party Secretary are not always the same. And there is still debate as to which one actually holds greater power. When the two offices are held by the same person, the question is moot.

"All politics is local," -Tip O'Neill. There is nothing new under the sun. The political games between politicians today are no different than the games played but feudal lords in antiquity. The only difference is that they are nominally more vulnerable today than they were then.

Indeed. There is a very good reason why Thomas Jefferson advocated for semi-regular revolutions every 20-30 years. Even he didn't think the electoral system set up under the Constitution was really enough to facilitate the needed change to prevent stagnation and complacency.

Wow, a lot of drivel coming for a paid Chinese CCCP troll. You gave away yourself with the not so clever rearrangement of the letters. Nobody outside of paid trolls uses that.
3
"State Capitalism" ie, Soviet Communism under a different name. Capitalism by definition rejects centralized planning and control, favoring a decentralized framework.
2
I suspect the Chinese CCCP is run very similar to how the North Korean "Worker's Party" is run. They are just more open about it than the DPRK is.
1
@hamzabajwa1960 Same could also be said of the leaders of the DNC. But then folks rarely understand how POPULISM actually works. Populism doesn't recognize ordained offices.
1
And most of the politicians in the US. Power is a corrupting influence, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. NOBODY can wield Sauron's Ring of Power.
1
Indeed. At least with western REPUBLIC governments, there is a relief valve that can allow pressure to release before the whole thing goes up in flames. Sometimes that valve works, sometimes it doesn't release the built-up pressure fast enough.
1
His cult of personality. Mao himself insisted on the title.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo Not BS, absolutely true. His is the textbook definition of a cult of personality by which all others save for Stalin's are measured. The worship of Mao follows similar to Jim Jones, Marshal Applegate or David Koresh but on a much grander scale. Another good analogy for Mao is the deification of Kim Il-Sung in North Korea.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo And you are regurgitating CCCP talking points on cue like Pavlov's dog. Spare me your moral outrage, you will not accept self-evident and irrefutable facts because they do not comport with the official party line.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo Wikipedia is HARDLY a reliable source, at best only useful as a first pass. They have been caught red-handed time and again passing off and laundering propaganda and opinion pieces as if they were hard objective facts. The most effective propaganda involves Half-truths. They use a kernel of fact to carry the fabrications. But often it lacks the proper context of full details that reveals reality. Your points contain at best only half the story, while ignoring the inconvenient parts that disprove your claims. And case in point, there is even a Wikipedia article detailing Chairman Mao's cult of personality. But you blatantly ignore that dirty little detail, don't you? You are not very sophisticated.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo Wow, ad hominin personal attack huh? Thank you for effectively throwing in the towel. Lobbing insults like that doesn't make your argument, it is an act of desperation. "I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left," -"Iron Maggie" Thatcher.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo And yet you are choosing to continue to respond. It is not I who is agitated, for I am the pig you are wrestling with, and this pig is completely enjoying it. My responses to your logical fallacies are allowing me to live rent-free in your head.
1
Maxxxie Lorenzo Yeah, laughing isn't an argument, it just shows than since you can't make an effective counterargument, you are attempting to trivialize or infantilize it. Typical response of a propaghandist. "When the wise man points at the moon, the fool examines the finger," -Confucius, author of "The Analects".
1
And it probably always will. Confucius said that life is very simple, but people keep insisting on making it overly complicated. The convolution in the CCCP system is by design.
1
Sure, the "collective good" is the favorite claim of tyrants and despots the world over. ALL genocides are done in the name of "the greater good". Don't even TRY to defense a Stalinist system like China's. More people have been murdered by the Red Chinese government than were killed in the Holocaust. "Great Leap Forward" famine and the Cultural Revolution both disprove your claims.
1
@liljaygray More people died by communism than any other ideology, even Nazism. And you cannot count PREDICTED deaths against ACTUAL deaths. Why? Because they haven't occurred. It is clear you are living in a delusional fantasy because you engage in the typical bigoted talking points of cultural Marxism which blatantly ignores historical facts in favor of false narratives based on emotions rather than reason. More people have been lifted out of poverty by capitalism than any other economic system. Communism has created more poverty than any economic system. Those are irrefutable facts.
1
@liljaygray It has, as Pax American has proven. Almost all technological and scientific advancements have come out of the Capitalist West, unlike the Communist Block which simply plagiarized and stole from their competition.
1
Yup. What is politics but a continuation of the old feudalist systems under a different name? Meet the new boss, same as the old one. A tale as old as history itself.
1
I think they were pragmatists who realized that the ideological purists like Mao were threatening to destroy the very thing they were trying to create. They had the foresight to moderate the unworkable ideas and modify the ones that could be made workable.
1
@Somajsibere Yes, if you are trying to hint at Russia's liberalization, might I remind you that it was NOT in any way true capitalism but merely the continuation of the Soviet oligarchy under a different name? And Putin's rise to power just confirms that nothing really changed in Russia after the fall of the Soviet Central Government. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
1
Deng Xaiopeng. HE is who made the Chinese system work once Mao's totalitarian control was revoked. Xiaopeng was a pragmatist with the wisdom to know that an ideological zealot like Mao would smash they very thing they were trying to create. And the Cultural Revolution proved that.
1
@klarkewang Not really. or rather, there would be no COMMUNIST China without Mao. Taiwan and the KMT formed REPUBLIC of China shows EXACTLY what mainland China would be WTIHOUT the Communist party. But then that is why you CCCP shills want so desperately to deny Taipei's existence.
1
@klarkewang North Korea and South Korea are also small nations, and yet they also very clearly demonstrate the difference between Communist Bloc centralized control and Western Free Markets. If not for Deng Xiaoping, mainland China would be no different than DPRK (North Korea). The fact that South Korea and Taiwan are both strong and free Western societies proves that you claim is completely bunk. Size and culture matter not. The Two Chinas have been divided longer than the two Koreas, further discrediting your contention. And I could go on for hours punching holes in your arguments with examples like these.
1
@klarkewang You ae deflecting again because you cannot actually address the points I made about how both South Korean and Taiwan prove that Communism has demonstratable hamstrung both Mainland China and North Korea. For a paid CCCP shill you are not very sophisticated. I have debated better advocates. Oh, and take a dose of your own medicine and read history.....UNAPPROVED history that the Chinese government doesn't want you to know about.
1
@klarkewang Wow, strait to the scripted talking points and canards on cue like Pavlov's dog. You really are a paid propagandist for Beijing. For someone worried about American genocides, you seem to turn a blind eye to China's genocides of non-Han ethnicities. Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house.
1
Word games are what propagandists do to muddy the water and cause confusion. In effect, the Chinese CCCP is trying to pull a "rebranding" bait and switch. "The beginning of wisdom is to call thing by their proper name," -Confucius, author of "The Analects".
1
No person who ever runs for a third term in office retires. They either die in office or get thrown out, often by force. Claims of only doing three terms are a farce.
1
An apt description, but the model also applies to politicians in Western Republics as well, sadly. The major difference is that China has had over 2,000 years of totalitarian rule under an Absolute Monarch while the West began to dispose of Monarchies about 200 years ago.
