  42.  @trussmonkey5910  The Romans deported them from JUDEA in 73 AD after the Roman sacking of Jerusalem during the Jewish-Roman war. They then made up the name "Palestina" in an attempt to erase the history of JUDEA. The Jewish population was really only allowed to return to the region during the British Mandate period after WW1. The return only happened in earnest during WW2 and the period afterwards when Stalin started quietly persecuting Jews.
