Imagine putting bombs on a balloon and sending it towards the US. Oh, wait, the Japanese did just that starting a number of forest fires during WW2.

Hunter had business dealings in China. This is a known fact that the media would have your forget.

@stevedenis8292 Fidel's illegitimate son is effectively in President Poohbear's pocket.
2
I'm guessing that like the Zeppelin, the balloon actually has several separate gas bags so that if the exterior is punctured, the whole thing doesn't come down at once.
2
Yes. It actually has better loiter time than the U-2 Dragon Lady.
2
@ltipst2962 The SR-71 was replaced with.....the U-2 Dragon Lady. No joke, the plane that the SR-71 was supposed to replace has since replaced it!
2
The Japanese did the same thing in WW2. The incendiary bombs started a number of forest fires.

Japanese send bombs to the US via balloons in WW2. Started several forest fires.

The problem is the launch location. Would have to send it from Europe. But something tells me that Russia's central Asian allies would intercept it first.

People have forgotten that the Japanese used balloons to send bombs to the US during WW2.
1
@stevedenis8292 Indeed. I am less worried about such a balloon crashing in remote Alaska than I am about it going over the ICBM silos. The Pentagon's cowardice has only emboldened China to move forward with its plans to invade Taiwan.

The reason is that those ridged airships has several separate gas bags so if it was punctured, it would not catastrophically fail. The reason why the German ones exploded was because they used Hydrogen rather than Helium.

Japan sent bombs to the US via balloons in WW2. Started a number of forest fires. This is not a joke.

The US still uses the U-2 Dragon Lady to gather intelligence. A balloon has longer loiter time over the target than a satellite. Better resolution too.
1
Japan used "Weather balloons" in WW2 to deliver bombs to the West Coast. Started a number of forest fires.

The Japanese sent hundreds during WW2. Started many forest fires.

And I suspect that like a Zeppelin, there are several gas bags so if a few are punctured, it does not catastrophically fall to the ground.

60,000 feet is well above the operating height of a drone.

Japan sent bomb balloons towards the US in WW2.

Or the cowardice of American leadership.
1
Loiter time. Balloons can hover over the target longer than a Satellite. Better resolution as well.
1
US presence in the Philippines? Not since they kicked us out after Pinatubo and closed down both Clark AB and Subic Bay Naval Station.
1
@ltipst2962 Stealth aircraft can still be seen on air traffic control radar. The significance of Stealth technology is NOT that it can't be seen, but that its signature is too weak to get an effective weapons lock on it.
1
Loiter time over the target. Satellites only have a short window, even with multiple vehicles moving over the target
1
Loiter time over the target. Also, resolution is higher at lower altitude.
1
Yeah, American "news" is in the tank for the Davos power mongers.

Don't forget that the Japanese put bombs on balloons during WW2. Started a number of forest fires with them.

The Japanese did it in WW2. Wasn't very effective then, but the technology has gotten better.

The US still uses the U-2 Dragon Lady to gather intelligence. Loiter time over the target is greater with a plane or balloon than with a satellite. Resolution is better as well.
