I’m not saying it excuses anything but the mistreatment that Mary got as a teenager especially when Henry decided he’d drop her mother and marry wicked stepmother.....you’re not gonna come out of that without a kind of ptsd. Had Henry not been a selfish person and considered or cared what he was truly doing to Mary, she might have been a kinder queen and even though she did have decent stepmothers after Annie, I don’t think their influence was enough to significantly stick with her or a lot more Protestants might have survived
