  1. The US never was a democracy (in that sense you put in "democracy"). The American ruling class always called "democracy" that form of ruling, where there is true power behind the curtain, a president and Congress pretend to be a power, and the media is manufacturing consent from the people. Listen to them, consider the context in which they use the word "democracy", without putting your own meaning into it. They truly believe this is "democracy". "The danger to our democracy" means "The danger to OUR money and power".
