  1. Bitcoin's blocksize staying small was a wise decision, you have to prioritize keeping the bitcoin blockchain secure and decentralized. The less important characteristics of scalability, low cost, and speed can be achieved on 2nd layer protocols. I'm not saying those things are unimportant, just less important than security and decentralization.

  3. Multisig accounts can be set up to require 2 out of 3 keys or maybe 3 out of 5 keys, leaving room to not have a key or two that might be missing. Maybe having a key kept with a lawyer is advantageous as the lawyer can help move funds with the proper participants, but doesn't have enough keys steal funds.
