Bottom line is the Battle of Bautzen was a embarrassment to the Allies and the beat up and understaffed units were a severe thorn in their side and lack of food, ammunition, and the critical fuel shortage is a great issue that stopped them. As always they were beaten back by lack of fresh people and lacking fuel plus no ammunition would have been a great obstacle to overcome.
