Yes, it’s an embarrassing video.
3
@SabineHossenfelder You keep forgetting that grid upgrades are not necessary for mass adoption of EVs. An average car only drives 40 km per day (Germany) which equates to only 8 kWh.
2
@mrvwbug4423 Public curbside AC charging is very common in many European countries already.
2
Very weak arguments. The future is electric, without ze combustion engines.
2
‘C02 iS PlAnT fO0D!!111!’
2
Incorrect. Study some thermodynamics and you will soon realize combustion engines will never become considerably more efficient than they are today.
2
Well said. Ze Germans love this narrative.
1
Not at all. Current battery tech is more than capable enough and will always be many times more efficient than ‘efficient’ engines running on synthetic fuels. Porsche is simply wrong.
1
@antonvoloshin9833 Current battery tech already performs great in passenger cars. A range of 300 to 400 km is very normal these days and charging is fast. Curb weight of the vehicles is very acceptable. Life cycle emissions are many times lower than ICE cars, despite production and mining. EVs are already highly effiecient, whereas combustion engines are not and never will be. An ICE car on synthetic fuels consumes five times as much electricity as an EV and this will never significantly improve simply because of physics.
1
Not at all necessary. Nobody drives 500 miles in one go. Also 150 mpg is never going to happen. Current state or internal combustion engines is pretty much at the most efficient it will ever get. This is it. Combustion engines are over.
1
@MicroClases_Ciencia All technology is here. It all comes down to investing right now. And we were talking about cars, but ships and planes aren't far away either. Battery electric container ships already exist.
1
@308_Negra_Arroyo_Lane exactly
1
This video is not great work at all.
1
Not at all. Because of the terribly low efficiency CO2 emissions of making hydrogen are far higher. Also, hydrogen cars are barely lighter. It makes absolutely zero sense.
1
@sticki3000 Wrong. Low efficiency means it will be a lot more difficult to be CO2 neutral. In order to power the same number of vehicles you need three times the amount of electric energy which equals three times more solar panels, wind turbines, power stations. And thus it will also considerably slow down the energy transition.
1
@sticki3000 If hydrogen is applied in vehicles it will be far harder to reach CO2 neutrality compared to battery electric. There will be A LOT of green hydrogen required to make steel and fertilizer production sustainable. Possibly we will need hydrogen for synthetic aviation fuels too. Using it for vehicles is a massive waste.
1
@ Sure, but a whole lot easier than going the hydrogen route.
1
Dude why do you press your spacebar so often
1
Wrong
1
Nope. Ethanol requires vast amounts of arable land to produce. There simply is not enough of it. Covering fields with solar panels is many times more efficient to produce power for vehicles.
1
How clueless are you?!
1
Not true at all. Internal combustion engines require many times more raw materials during their life due to terribly low efficiencies.
1
It’s a paid a for Nissan. :(
1
Incorrect. There is simply not nearly enough arable land for global ethanol consumption.
1
@itabiritomg just use google. Plenty of research is available. Even the small amounts of bio fuels we use today have a huge impact on agriculture and nature.
1
Yup, most likely paid advertisement. There is simply no other way to explain this scientifically incorrect video
1
LOL
1
Nope
1
Fully electric is always far more favorable, even when it comes to the required natural resources.
1
Exactly. Dumbest video ever.
1
@SimonGardiner-bj3pq Efficiency directly correlates with fuel consumption. Fuel consumption is directly proportional to CO2 emissions, you cannot prevent these.
1
If you still think hydrogen cars make more sense in 2024 it only proves you have no clue what you are talking about.
1
That’s a common misconception. Hydrogen will always be terribly inefficient and cumbersome compared to (future) battery tech.
1
Wronnggggggg
1
Of course
1
Even on fossil fuels EVs are cleaner. Renewables are a lot more than 10% on many countries including Germany.
1
Lol all wrong
1
Hydrogen isn't mined
1
@TrevelyanOO6 Still makes absolutely no sense for countries like Japan to opt for hydrogen.
