Comments by "Simon" (@Simon-dm8zv) on "This FUNDAMENTAL charging problem could FINISH EVs for good | MGUY Australia" video.
They work in lowering CO2 emissions drastically. The problem is they still are more expensive than petrol and diesel cars and therefore government incentives are absolutely justified. The faster we switch to EVs, the better.

Exactly! This is a terribly misinformed video, which is hard to believe in 2023.

@alankemp1970 Yes, it is unbelievable. Really sad to see so many people still fall for this unstoppable stream of nonsense while all the statistical and scientific facts are out there and easy to find online.
3
The video completely forgot to mention that the vast majority of charging will happen at night by using AC ‘slow’ charging.
3
Yup.. fossil youtube is becoming increasingly desperate.
2
Exactly. It’s pathetic.
2
In many European cities you can use AC charging in most streets.
2
Not at all as 90% of charging happens at home.
1
@scoobyflew Obviously they will use public curbside AC charging as has been the case for a decade in many European cities.
1
exactly
1
Would still produce far too much CO2. Not a future proof solution at all.
1
In the meantime proper EVs can cover 1000 km in less than 10 hours including charging, barely slower than using an ICE car.
1
@marcelgood6875 Look up Bjørn Nyland.
1
@robertbox5399 Yes they do. You just don't like it.
1
@williammeek4078 Correct, but initial purchase should be stimulated.
1
@richrdlewis6278 😂
1
@invernessity Literally every statement you make proves that you never took the slightest effort to inform yourself. Stop embarrassing yourself.
1
@notyourtypicalwatchreview2563 😂
1
It’s not logical at all.
1
He intentionally left that out.
1
Pretty small
1
@SoloRenegade Exactly. Much lower losses than happen in the petroleum fuel ecosystem.
1
@SoloRenegade I quote: "Well-to-Tank (WTT) energy efficiencies for gasoline and diesel production are quite high. Compared to energy delivered per gallon of gasoline or diesel, an additional 25% of the energy content is needed from well to tank. Per gallon of fuel the embedded energy consumed in feedstock recovery, processing, storage and transportation, plus fuel production, transportation, storage and distribution is 25% over and above the energy delivered."
1
@SoloRenegade Youtube doesn't allow to post links. If you google the quote you will find the source. Well to wheel emissions of EVs are always lower, even when mainly fossil fuels are used for charging it. And, as we all know by now, EVs burn far less often.

😂
1
They already have a really long range.
1
Because that doesn’t fit the anti EV narrative
1
Except that the video above is utter bullshit.
1
Except that you can just use a regular socket.
1
Well said. This video is just terrible FUD and 99% of the comments seem to love it.
1
Great to read about your positive experience with the Lightning. It is clear that mister MGUY deliberately creates videos to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt just to generate clicks and make money through his channel. A sad business.
1
Hybrids were cool 20 years ago. EV is the only sensible solution to lower CO2 emissions.
1
@breaker1685 Hybrids just don't make a big enough of a dent in emissions, period. Battery electric is the only way forward and will soon be more affordable too. Charging happens when you sleep or when you are at work 95% of the time. During road trips you need to take breaks anyway and you will see that charging often takes less time than expected.
1
😂
1
Barely any statistic is supporting these claims.
1
Not necessary at all. A few companies tried it, but fast charging has proven to be much more effective. And no, hydrogen and alcohol are not greener options.
1
Well total energy demand decreases due to electrification. Quite a lot of capacity will become available when refineries shut down for example.
1
Charging at home is still a lot cheaper than buying petrol or diesel.
1
Not at all. More like 20 to 30 minutes.
1
@1959rossco Vast majority of modern EVs. Tesla, Mercedes, Nio, BMW etc.
1
Not at all because the vast majority of charging happens at home.
1
Well said.
