Those numbers are outdated. A new version of that exact research report now states ‘Based on the new and transparent data, an estimate of 61-106kg CO2-eq/kWh battery capacity was calculated for the most common type, the NMC chemistry.’ And that is already 4 years ago.

There are large amounts of research available on that. Short answer: currently batteries are produced with about 100 kg of CO2 emissions per kWh.

I looked it up: between 1 to 3 years

Look up: Renewable Energy Certificate.

Burning natural gas produces shit loads of CO2…

@usmanali81 Only when the balance is maintained, as you probably know.

@usmanali81 Not at all comparable. That happened over a far longer time span. The relationship between the industrial age, highly increased CO2 concentration in the atmosphere and climate change is undeniable, as we all know by now.

@usmanali81 Nuclear will play a role, but the majority of energy will be wind and solar. Wind and solar have proven themselves for decades and are capable of making big dents in CO2 emissions fast.

@usmanali81 It is clear that you are the one who doesn’t have a clue. There are countless reports available on life cycle analysis of wind and solar. Inform yourself.

For a lot of energy actually.

Why not? Germany is already at 40% renewable.
1
@horserous Almost. To be more precise: wind: 20%, solar: 9%, hydro: 3%, biomass: 7,5%.
