@HOMELANDERFEELS Lithium is not mined by slave labour. It’s an industrial process that mainly involves evaporation of brine water and further refinement. Not much manual labour involved at all.

You have no clue.
1
Not relevant at all. It's literally NOTHING compared to the amount of oil required for fuel production.
1
Yes, you and Alan Fisher are right but that does not mean we should not develop electric vehicles. Outside of urban areas we will still need more sustainable ways of transport.
1
Because internal combustion engines will never be as clean as electric drivetrains.
1
Common misconception. Even on mainly non renewable energy it is cleaner than diesel.
1
They are a lot better, even if mainly fossil electricity is used to charge them. Just simple physics. Electric vehicles are far more efficient.
1
It's a famous myth. That comparison only concerns sulfur emissions - NOT CO2 and all the other shit that leaves the exhaust pipes.
1
Has been researched a million times. Electric vehicles are always less polluting.
1
what is your problem?
1
The American grid only produces 0.85 pounds of CO2 per kWh. That is far from 100% fossil.
1
With current and future diesel prices they definitely will.
1
It's not. And neither diesel nor gasoline are a solution for the future.
1
@HOMELANDERFEELS Ever heard of CO2?
1
Plenty of companies preparing for this.
1
Yes busses on liquid propane are cleaner regarding toxic emissions, but CO2 emissions are barely lower than diesel.
1
@deepspacecow2644 Nope.
1
But still causes a lot of CO2 emissions.
1
Yes, sometimes. So what? Still cleaner than diesel.
1
lol
1
Yup LFP is great. Many bus manufacturers use LFP for their electric busses.
1
The oil industry is one of the biggest cobalt consumers where it is used to deshulphurize fuel.
1
Not relevant. Electric is always cleaner.
1
"Diesel over Electric hybrid drive bus instead?" Because it would still consume massive amounts of diesel. And hauling around a diesel engine for 10 years just because the batteries might need replacement one day?!
1
@10100rsn Generating your own energy using an engine is terribly inefficient. A fully electric bus using grid energy for charging is much better emissions wise.
1
Wrong. Electric vehicles are always less polluting, no matter what. An no, clean diesels do not exist.
1
@windyblown2383 I know, that why I said 'no matter what'. Even on mainly non renewable energy CO2 emissions are still lower than diesel.
1
@windyblown2383 Average emissions per kWh per year is what counts.
1
You are misquoting the study. The break even point is only 60k miles in a worst case scenario. An average school bus drives 12k miles per year so within 5 years the electric bus is cleaner on every level.
1
No because it is not relevant. CO2 emissions of fossil fuels are far higher.
1
oh yes.
1
Not in the long run.
1
CO2 emissions are still lower than diesel.
