As long as transmission capacity is not expanded, yes.
2
That is the plan, but it takes time to expand transmission capacity
2
Wind and solar ARE firm sources of clean energy.
1
That is exactly what the video says. It just takes time.
1
@ericeandco Where have you been?
1
Local batteries are simply tied in with the grid.
1
Dynamic tariffs don’t exist in the USA?
1
@MRSketch09 I am referring to an energy contract that has variable rates through the day depending on net load and availability of energy. This is pretty normal where I live.
1
Sure, but that requires transmission capacity
1
"the real TRUTH" 😂
1
Very inefficient
1
These batteries will easily pay back for itself within that period.
1
Did you watch the video?
1
@farquadshmoogle9120 Batteries are mentioned.
1
@farquadshmoogle9120 That is exactly what is happening
1
Lack of transmission capacity, as mentioned in the video.
1
If solar panels do not shut off in time in cases of over supply, voltage and frequency gets too high resulting - in the worst case - in power loss.
1
A lot more renewable than fossil fuels
1
@syzyphyz As long as it isn’t burned it is at least a lot more renewable depending on the recycling abilities.
1
You can’t execute the energy transition overnight.
1
More like a couple of decades
1
Wrong. It is perfectly solvable. More transmission capacity + batteries + dynamic EV charging will fix it and this is currently happening all over Europe including Germany.
1
Just use it to charge your EV for free…
1
Because there is a huge shortage of transmission capacity…
1
No lies at all. Just poor reporting. The main problem is lack of transmission capacity. Without it you cannot transport the electricity to the water pumps, the hydrogen factory or other states.
1
Not true. For day to day balancing current battery technology is very capable. Price is coming down massively too.
1
@alsmith1776 Yes. Reality literally proves you wrong.
1
And a transmission problem
1
Exactly!
1
Are you telling me this doesn’t exist yet in the USA?
1
Ever heard of CO2?
1
@patrickhall3878 Only a tiny fraction compared to the emissions caused by burning fossil fuels day in day out.
1
@patrickhall3878 What is your point? That is perfectly possible.
1
@patrickhall3878 Reality simply proves you wrong. Solar is contributing massively to energy production every single day all around the world. Therefore huge amounts of CO2 are prevented from entering the atmosphere and this is only the beginning. And no, natural gas is not clean. Who told you that?!
1
@patrickhall3878 How can you think natural gas is clean?! 😂
1
@patrickhall3878 Oh the good old Volcano myth. Spoiler alert: it’s not true.
1
@patrickhall3878 The solution is all around us: wind, solar and hydro + batteries for day to day storage. Obviously combined with fossil generation to fill the gaps. These gaps have been shrinking every year and will continue to do so. This way CO2 emissions will keep declining. It will take time but many countries are doing great already.
1
Sure, but very inefficient.
1
You need transmission capacity for that…
1
There is no lie. The problem is lack of transmissions capacity.
1
+ transmission capacity
