It wasn't solved at all. It's a famous scam and has nothing to do with the above.

There is plenty of battery powered heavy duty machinery already. Batteries are the way to go in the vast majority of applications.

@MegaGouch Yes there are, look it up. JCB's solution does not have much to do with reality. Combustion is an insanely inefficient way of converting energy. If they really believed in hydrogen they would be working with fuel cells.

@MegaGouch The Model Y was world's best selling car in Q1 this year... JCB and Toyota just want to postpone the end of the combustion engine. That's all they are looking for.

@MegaGouch EV sales are growing rapidly. There is no way back. Retrofitting vehicles in not realistic at all and hydrogen combustion is so incredibly inefficient that we would need 5 times as much electrical energy compared to EVs. Obviously aircraft is a case in which hydrogen combustion probably makes sense. Road vehicles: not at all.

@MegaGouch I know it is possible, but it is simply incredibly inefficient. And these inefficiencies are the result of laws of physics. There is no way to eliminate that. Sure, there might be some niche applications, but if hydrogen is going to be used, it should be in fuel cells. Not in combustion engines. And for passenger cars it is completely out of the question because of the cost per mile and the difficulties of handling and storing hydrogen. You should also realize a vehicle with hydrogen combustion engine will have a very low range because hydrogen takes a lot of space to store, and again, the engine needs a lot of it.

Well said!

Even less efficient.

Not at all. Batteries it is for 95% of the cases.

15%*

nope

@heldermonteiro2718 Correct and despite that, they are a lot cleaner than a combustion engine car. That’s why they make so much sense.
1
@heldermonteiro2718 I am just sharing facts.
1
@heldermonteiro2718 😂
1
@heldermonteiro2718 Nothing is 100% clean. The point is that it is a lot less polluting than using gasoline or diesel cars.
1
@heldermonteiro2718 sure.. Now go read some research reports on the matter.
1
Both industry and road transportation account for about 20% each of total CO2 production.
1
No there hasn't. Laws of physics still apply.
1
You don't see CO2 as a problem we need to solve as fast as possible?
1
@professormadlad7773 Of course.
1
Why do you think EV passenger cars are not good enough?
