Well it shouldn't. Putin said so himself around September that "we have practically stopped losing people", which just means he doesn't consider the soldiers "people".

@AuntJoey Those are different issues, you're comparing apples to oranges. The US DoD makes sure people survive wars as much as possible. The first thing Ukrainians noted after starting using Western equiment was how much more survivable those were.
