The earth makes one measly rotation in a 24 hour period. That's as slow as can be, yet you want to call that spinning? The hour hand on an analog clock moves twice as fast as the earth rotates. The fact that you use 1,000mph, must mean that you have no idea how rotational velocity is measured, and that you are clueless about how huge the earth really is.

@BigBoss-99a Because the earth is very, very, very big, the curvature from your very tiny vantage point in relation to the huge earth, is extremely miniscule. So, it would be very difficult for your eyes to perceive it cognitively, though the curvature is there. That's why you have to rely on scientific and other means.

You watched a conspiracy theory video of ships in front of the horizon, not beyond. Any ship going beyond the horizon, starts to have the bottom obstructed by curvature of the earth. No amount of zoom can bring back the bottom of a ship, that's started to go beyond the horizon. Search and watch this video: "Huge container ship eclipsing the horizon. Nikon Coolpix P900." Notice how the ship goes farther and farther out, and the cameraman zooms more and more, yet the bottom of the ship only becomes more obstructed.

Though the sun is much farther away than the horizon, notice how it maintains the same size throughout the time it is setting. It does not appear to be shrinking smaller and smaller, and moving away from you until just a tiny dot. Even when the camera zooms at about the minute mark, it still doesn't change size.

The earth makes one measly rotation in a 24 hour period. That's hardly moving. Also, the atmosphere that a hot air ballon flies in, is part of the rotating earth. The Bible doesn't say the earth is stationary, either. You're only good at misinterpreting the Bible.

Notice how the sides of the flashlight are covered, to direct the light, and keep the light from being seen from the dark areas. That means, in your world, that the sun would have to have a giant lampshade on it. Why don't we see the lampshade on the sun, though?

@betaorionis2164 One point you are leaving out on 2), is that the air pressure and density becomes less with the higher elevation. So, there is less heat transfer at the higher elevation, as well.

I would tell him, if you haven't already, is that there isn't one real Christian church that promotes or supports a flat earth or dome overhead. Out of the thousands of Christians I have met, only two have been flat earthers. But, like your brother, they believed in every cockamamie conspiracy theory there is, so it was no wonder to learn that they were also flat earthers.

Firmament has never meant impenetrable dome. It means the expanse of the universe, the sky, the heavens, sometimes the atmosphere above the earth, but never an impenetrable dome. The "earth shall not be moved" and "foundation" has nothing to do with a physical movement of the earth, either. It is in reference to a spiritual connection with God, or God is in control. The Bible is made up of many parables, metaphors, hyperbole, similes, and figures of speech, not rigid literal phrases to fit flat earth fantasy. Isn't it interesting that not one real Christian church supports or promotes a flat earth and dome? Also, your claims about old astronaut Don Pettit, not a head spokesperson for NASA, and Stanley Kubrick, are grossly wrong as well.

The bottom starts being obscured above the water line, then more of the bottom, the farther out it goes beyond the horizon. When a boat starts to go beyond the horizon , there will be no water seen behind the boat. A boat seen in front of the horizon will still have water behind the boat.

Because, as a Christian, it was a reflection of his life's work and passion, building rockets and spacecraft to explore the glorious universe. And since firmament means expanse of the universe, and never a dome over a flat earth, it makes perfect sense.
