@slingshotchicken4695 That may be the case. But then, if you consider the awesome power the government has over its people, why don't they just force all the old people to get vaccinated? They seem to say that old people have the right to refuse vaccination, even if it means locking tens or hundreds of millions of people up. It makes no sense at all.
1
@MrScandinavio Not sure what to say to that. What are the alternative numbers? And the numbers provided by the government don't exactly make a good case for lock-downs.
1
@1O1O11 Yes, I agree with you, except for the 'getting on a plane'.
1
@slingshotchicken4695 I do not agree with that and I think there's something the government is forgetting: This virus will NEVER go away. It is now endemic all over the world. It will keep coming back, and back, and back. Just like the common cold, or the flu. At some stage, they will have to recognize that. Maybe not this year, or next, but eventually, there's no other way.

@peteraston4753 "Coal has been a renewable fuel since the first tree fell thats where coal comes from". That is not correct. Coal was originally from wood, but no new coal has been made in over 50 million years, and it is unlikely any new coal will ever be made. Coal was created when there were not yet any bacteria or fungi able to process (eat) the wood, so the wood turned to coal. Now all old trees get eaten by organisms and will never become coal.

David Bowie?

Is that important for visiting China?

@dongdong9560 But EU's voice is not French. We speak a bunch of different languages. And several Chinese leaders speak at least some English. In any case, who cares? A language is just a tool for communicating.
1
@dongdong9560 Whatever you think about EU is your business. We handle our affairs the way we prefer. You shouldn't be surprised that the US, UK, and EU share a lot of values, ideals, culture and opinions. We are more like different Chinese provinces than we are like different Asian countries.
1
@dongdong9560 Again, it's clear from your comment that you have very little understanding of European/Western culture and the relationships we have with each other. There's simply no comparison with any two Asian countries. We really are like family. In fact, I'm continuously surprised that Asian countries don't try to develop closer relationships. Perhaps you all feel you're unique, while we feel we're almost all the same.
1
@dongdong9560 "a really united Europe is a nightmare for UK and the US". It's not a nightmare for the UK and US. We like to work together. That is what you don't seem to understand. We're friends!
1
@dongdong9560 Thanks for your concern. We'll keep an eye out for future difficulties.
1
@genespell4340 Sure, but you know what I mean. Most of the world, at least in the west, have experienced much more prosperity without slavery than with it.
1
@asmodeus1274 Sure, but not institutionalized slavery. After all, slavery is not legal anywhere. What is referred to as 'Modern Slavery' is very different from what happened in the past, where people were bought and sold in markets, or taken as war booty, and then chained and worked to their death. I'm sure you know the difference.

@hg2. "the bullying and hysteria of the climate-change constituency is stupid". Can we please keep the climate debate out of a video about archeology?
1
Could be a 'Viking Raid Motive'.
1
You're pro-Saddam?
1
You seem to have a very limited understanding of international organizations. NATO and EU are not the same thing, or even the same countries.
1
@hillerm Yes, I don't know why we are so privileged. It's a regular 公房 community.
1
@alm777 It's not just me. It's everybody here.
1
@dttra566 I think you must mistake my comment for another one. I have no reason to pretend to be American and I have been here a lot longer than 3 years.
1
@connoryeung8624 That I don't know, and I prefer not to find out.
1
@disconnect9084 We were warned on March 27 that we would go under lockdown April 1-4. But actually, in my case the lockdown started afternoon of March 30 and is still ongoing.
1
@liviilazii7679 Thanks for asking, but there is nothing. The problem is not a lack of money or a lack of food or other supplies. The problem is getting the food and supplies from farm/factory into our communities. Imagine going to McD's. You order and pay, but the counter is so high you can't reach the food and the staff tells you they have no way of getting the meal down to you.
1
@XC-iy4il My community has about 1200 people, only 4-6 are foreigners. Most are elderly Shanghainese people. It's not high-end, but 公房。We have two cases, but we are still allowed to walk outside, though they ask us to limit it.
1
@whysoserious6345 I don't know why you get so emotional. I'm not asking for your sympathy, nor do I care about it. I am simply describing the situation as it is and I am indeed dealing with it. Consider it a field report, not something that requires a reaction from you.
1
@coconutboy8198 Thanks, Coconut Boy. You're the best coconut!
1
@KK_Denovo_ You thought right, but there are ways around that.

More like 25 years. Some turbines are even useful after that, but because they were built so many years ago, they tend to be much less efficient than new turbines, a bit like how a car from 1998 is less efficient than a new one. Therefore, older wind parks are often replaced with newer ones.
1
@freedomfighter4990 "Can't we donate our old blades to some poor country". I'm sure we could, but it's less likely they would want them. It may not be cheaper for them to re-fit old blades onto new turbines. If this made good economic sense, it would be done already. Besides, though these blades look (and are) huge, they make up only a tiny amount of the industrial and construction waste we discard every year. We only notice them exactly because they are so big. And the focus on them as a waste problem is primarily because renewable energy is supposed to be more environmentally sustainable. So, there is a problem, and it needs to get solved, but it is by no means a disproportionally big problem.

How did you get the information? Through the normal media? I thought so. After all, it's been all over the news for days.
1
@activistbook3809 China's peaceful rice is soft on your teeth.
1
"To fly high, and stay high". As discussions about legalizing weed become more mainstream, this quote is very apt.
1
Maybe they use it for clothes sold in China, but not elsewhere.
1
@alexsalemo9137 Well, I certainly welcome Finland into our community.
1
This is great war reporting! More of this, please, and less of people sitting in a studio discussing Putin's mental state.
1
There are always protests and riots in France. If it's not farmers dumping carrots all over Champs Elysees, it's young people setting cars on fire. Just another day in the life of beautiful Paris.
1
@monacophotographyevents2384 Actually, I had forgotten. Thanks for reminding me.
