As a Danish national, I had no idea Danish entrepreneurs had started plantations in Malaysia. But this video caused me to look into the history of United Plantations. Apparently a very innovative and even progressive company, it still thrives today and there are still Danish people working in management.

@oeerturk But I'm not a colonialist. Besides, this Danish company in Malaysia is simply foreign direct investment, not colonialism. You can Google them and read their history, if you want to learn more.

@syafiqkamarulzaman357 Ha ha, yes, I thought about what the Danish and Malaysian colleagues talk about during lunch break: Badminton!

@syedputra5955 Special Brew, we don't even have this in Denmark. On my first visit to Malaysia many years ago, I had many Special Brew.

@madsam0320 I think you're confusing different companies. You may be thinking of United Fruit, an American company that had large banana plantations in Central America. That is an entirely different company. United Plantations (the Danish company) was set up in Thailand and primarily operated rubber and palm oil plantations in Malaysia. It still exists today.

@Sondergarden Thanks for the compliment.

@itr8247 Yes, I believe it's now an Indian company. Then there's Christiani & Nielsen in Thailand, also started by Danish engineers, now owned by GP Group.

@sayanchx Yes, we discussed them already further up.
