  2. People are willing to gamble their lives for a better future. I've seen it in China. West Africans are chancing it in Europe. Few succeed, most scrape by, some get enslaved. It's all a part of economic development.

  4.  @rherrer9  Hard to say what I would do if I were not me but someone else. It's very possible I would try to immigrate to a rich country, too. There's no telling. But I'm quite confident that going forward, we will see more and more migrants from the south trying to get to the north by any means.
