I'm so fascinated by the SanXingDui culture and what it may be able to tell us. -Why was it not mentioned in any old texts? Perhaps they had no writing system and it was so far removed from the North China Plain (中原) that there was no contact. -What were their beliefs? -Why are there no depictions of the sun? (which is normal in early agrarian societies. They worship the sun which brings them their food) -Are the human figures religious leaders? -Are the animal figures signs of animism? -So many large bronze artifacts are usually a sign of a large, organized society. A small village would not have the manpower or time to make this. So interesting!

Your hypothesis is highly unlikely. Sanxingdui is from around 3000 BC, but Asians crossed the Bering strait around 13,000 BC. It would be almost impossible to preserve a particular artistic/religious language for 10,000 years without major change. Any similarity seems to be only coincidental.

@sophonblock76 Perhaps at most a thousand years before, but not 10,000 years before. People moved into North America in the Paleolithic, possibly early Neolithic, and not thereafter. Sanxingdui is bronze age, and it is 6000 km from the Bering Sea. When you present a hypothesis, you should at least have a little supporting evidence.

@mikeevans6344 I will try to make this as short as possible: -Culture A: 3000BC, some artistic elements of which look a little similar to -Culture B: 1300AD (4300 years later) -Separated by 14,000 km and an ocean strait which became flooded by rising sea levels around 8,000 BC. Those facts are the reasons for my skepticism.

@mingouczjcz3800 Thanks for that extra info. Very interesting. We can imagine (without knowing for sure) that they believed birds inside the sun pushed it across the sky. In some countries in Europe the sun was depicted as being pulled by oxen across the sky.

@sophonblock76 Yes, it's possible, there is just no evidence for that, so it will remain your own little hypothesis.

@mikeevans6344 Arctic peoples, not Aztecs, not Chinese.

@mikeevans6344 I made my arguments clear a little further up. I may never be able to convince you, but I'm ok with that.

@sophonblock76 They believe it, yes, and you believe it. It's a valid hypothesis. Now all you have to do is find supporting evidence. Until that happens, I will remain skeptical. It's ok that some people are skeptical, isn't it?

@sophonblock76 I think you're thinking of something else, so let's be clear: There is incontrovertible evidence that all native peoples in the Americas originated from the Asian continent. But that is not the topic under discussion. The claim here is that the culture and art of Sanxingdui is closely related to that of one or more central American ancient cultures. Not DNA, but culture. As you know, culture is not transmitted through DNA.

@sophonblock76 Again, an interesting hypothesis. And again, you just need to find some evidence to support it if you want it to be more than a hypothesis.

@sophonblock76 I know we can't post links here, but give me the title of a relevant article and the name of the publication. I'll search for it and I promise I'll read it and get back to you.
