Back in the 60s and 70s Afghanistan was a popular tourist destination for Europeans who were traveling overland to East Asia. Kabul was full of cafes where European hippies would be sipping coffee and smoking locally grown cannabis. It was basically peaceful. It's hard to imagine such a situation today.

@min-jd5lb I don't believe they all hate the US. Some do, and others admire and like the US. After all, hundreds of thousands of them wish for nothing more than to immigrate to the US.

@min-jd5lb Of course not, which begs the question: Why is the US so successful and why are certain other countries always failing? Hmm, is it the CIA again?

@waqasiqbal265 Cannabis was in common use in east and south Asia from the 10th century, and spread throughout the Arab/Muslim world from the 12th century onwards. But perhaps it skipped over Afghanistan.

@PhadJHR-bz7th If Afghanistan is really so peaceful today, it shouldn't be a problem how many weapons there are. The peaceful people of Afghanistan can just leave those weapons alone.
